CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Lunch Bunch classes

Lunch Bunch classes combine drama with the curriculum to extend the experience. They also build social relationships as students have time for a sack lunch together. (Students need to be potty trained, please).

Adult Yoga

Strengthen your core and increase your flexibility as you enjoy a relaxing experience of your own embodiment.

World Dance • ages 4½–7 as of August 31

This is a variety course offering a new instructor every 12 weeks. The first instructor will be teaching belly dance. The next two will introduce dance forms from other countries.

Creative Dynamics and Creative Movement • ages 3–5 as of August 31

Children experience story enactment through dance, theater games, creative movement, and journeys through the imagination. This class also aims to teach children to exspress their emotions, solve problems, and collaborate with their peers.

Toddler Dance • age 2 as of August 31

Children explore rhythm, body awareness, balance, and coordination skills in this pre-ballet class. Props are incorporated to keep toddlers actively involved.

Toddler Dance & Tumble • age 2 as of August 31

Children explore rhythm, body awareness, balance, and coordination skills in this jazz and developmental tumbling class. Props are incorporated to keep toddlers actively involved.

Gymnastics • ages 3–4 as of August 31

Our developmental gymnastics class teaches safe, step-by-step tumbling techniques, as well as balance-beam skills.

Jazz & Gym • ages 3–5 as of August 31

This course provides a foundation of skills for creative expression through ballet, jazz, developmental tumbling, and balance-beam skills. Storytelling is used throughout each lesson to keep the preschool child actively engaged.

Jazz & Gym • ages 5–7 as of August 31

This course provides a foundation of skills for creative expression through ballet, jazz, developmental tumbling, and balance-beam skills.

Intermediate Jazz & Tap • ages 10+

The course teaches modern jazz and tap technique. It gives students an opportunity to create their own jazz and tap choreography, as well. Leaps, turns, rhythm, and flexibility are core to this curriculum.

Modern Duncan Technique • ages 10+

The class is based on the original work of Isadora Duncan, the founder of modern dance. The class includes barre work and alignment exercises as well as original Duncan choreography.

Lyrical • teens

This is a graceful, free-flowing form of jazz dance that is core to dance and drill-team technique.

Turns & Leaps • teens

This class teaches the turns and leaps needed for advanced jazz choreography as well as dance and drill team.

Drill-Team Prep • teens

This course prepares students for drill team tryouts at their local high school, developing strength, flexibility, and precision.

Acro-Dance Performance Team • all ages

Prerequisites: straight-legged cartwheel, back roll, head stand, one year of dance training, teacher referral, or private audition. This team works together, incorporating modern dance and tumbling for performances throughout the year.

Preschool Dance • ages 3–4 as of August 31

Primary Dance • ages 5–6 as of August 31

This well rounded course develops creative expression through age-appropriate skills in ballet, tap, jazz, and creative movement. Storytelling is used to keep students actively engaged, and healthy body alignment is emphasized through imagery. Students begin to learn ballet terminology in this course.

Classical Ballet II • ages 7–8 as of August 31

This course introduces ballet barre work. Students learn ballet terminology, turns, jumps, leaps, and choreography.

Dance Combo II • ages 7–9 as of August 31

Ballet, tap, and modern jazz are taught in this combination class with opportunities for students to develop their own choreography together.

Intermediate Ballet / Pre-Toe • ages 10+

This class includes exercises at the barre, across the floor, center work, and strength building to prepare students for pre-toe. The curriculum strongly emphasizes healthy body alignment and a positive body image.

Pointe • upon approval

This course will continue to develop ballet technique while building the flexibility and strength necessary for dancing en pointe. The curriculum strongly emphasizes healthy body alignment and a positive body image.

Hip-Hop & Break Dancing • see schedule

Hip-hop and break dancing are fast urban forms of dance that are often seen on television music videos. This totally clean hip-hop class is designed with a funky flair of technique and fun!
